People Helping People

The concept behind our People Helping People (PHP) campaign is quite simple...if enough people donate just $10 each month, we will have enough money to cover our monthly operating costs. Just click the appropriate button below and follow the steps. If you'd like more information about People Helping People, and other ways to donate, please keep reading below!

Here are several ways easy ways to donate monthly:

  • Click on one of the buttons above to make automatic donations using a credit card or a PayPal account. Once you set it up, your donations are automatically sent to us monthly and your receipt is sent to your e-mail; or
  • Send us a monthly check--if you use online billing paying, many of the banks will mail the check for you! Mail donations to The Torres Community Shelter, 101 Silver Dollar Way, Chico, CA 95928; or
  • Easier yet, you can have your donations sent to us automatically each month from your checking account by signing a bank authorization form and mailing it back to us along with a voided check. Click here to print an automatic donation form, or call us at (530) 891-9048 and we will mail one to you; or
  • Check to see if your employer offers payroll deduction. Some employers in the area may even match your donation. Ask them!

We really hope you'll become one of our People Helping People supporters!

We've got some new help in promoting People Helping People! Impact Marketing, a local Chico call center, is donating its telemarketing services to benefit the Torres Shelter. Please click here for more information. 100% of any donations received through this telemarketing campaign will go towards helping people who are homeless here at the Shelter. Our goal, which they are helping us to achieve, is to add monthly People Helping People supporters until we have 2,500 supporters in the ‘People Helping People’ program...enough to cover expenses! We really appreciate Impact Marketing's help in promoting our People Helping People campaign. They make telephone calls every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday--and they don't charge us for any of their expenses. In short, they are "eating" their costs to build consistent, ongoing support for the Shelter. They consider this a donation to support their community.
